Rolls Royce Spectre Rolls Out as India's Most Expensive Electric Car
Rolls Royce, the renowned British luxury car manufacturer, has introduced its inaugural all-electric luxury vehicle, the Spectre, in India. This establishes it as the most luxurious electric car accessible in the country and one of the most opulent electric cars globally. The Spectre utilizes Rolls Royce's exclusive all-aluminum space frame, known as the Architecture of Luxury, which serves as the foundation for their other premium models like the Cullinan and Phantom.
The Rolls Royce Spectre comes with an ex-showroom price starting at Rs 7.5 crore in India, and in the country, it faces no direct competition. The next highest-priced electric car in India is the Lotus Eletre, which starts at Rs 2.55 crore ex-showroom. Although, in the global market, it has some remote competitors like the Cadillac Celestiq and Drako GTE. It's essential to highlight that this is a highly specialized market, and the competing models are not closely priced.
The Rolls Royce Spectre is a two-door coupe, while its closest rival in India, the Lotus Eletre is an SUV. The Spectre comes with a classic Rolls Royce design, featuring a long bonnet and a wide grille at the front. It features 23-inch aero-optimized, the biggest wheels on a Rolls Royce coupe. The Spectre features split headlamps, similar to what we have seen on the Phantom coupe in the past. On top of the headlamps, the Spectre comes with LED DRLs and the Pantheon LED grille.
As an ultra-luxurious offering, the interiors of the Rolls Royce Spectre are impeccably premium, showcasing bespoke design elements. Notably, it includes a starlight liner on the door pads, adorned with 4,796 softly illuminated stars on the roof. The vehicle also boasts a fully digital driver's display, featuring the company's innovative Spirit platform.
Regarding the powertrain, the Rolls Royce Spectre is outfitted with dual electric motors, positioned on each axle, collectively producing 585 horsepower and an impressive peak torque of 900 Nm, surpassing its competitors. Featuring a 102kWh battery pack, the Spectre claims a remarkable range of up to 530 km on a single charge. Accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph takes just 4.5 seconds, and it boasts a top speed of 250 kmph.
